Please jump for STEPS so that when a family hears the words 'I'm sorry, there's something wrong with your baby's legs', they can turn to STEPS as the only charity in the UK for hip dysplasia, clubfoot and other lower limb conditions. We answer the questions parents have - What is it? Will they be able to walk? What are the treatment options? What's the long term outcome? Who can I talk to? STEPS can only do this thanks to donations and provides the only national helpline, publications, online forum and a family contact service so that families know how to cope and care for their child or other family member. We provide direct help to thousands of families every year and the difference we make is shown in quotes from them like "STEPS has been amazing! No Health Visitor or consultant could spend the time like STEPS did, listen to us, guide us and support us. You phone us, sent us information, gave us someone who we could email and ring..... An amazing supportive charity"

About Us

From hips to toes, young to old, when a family learns a loved one is affected by hip dysplasia, clubfoot or other lower limb condition, STEPS helps answer the questions Mums and Dads often ask:

* What is it?
* Will they be able to walk?
* What can be done and when?
* What are the treatment options?
* What are the long term outcomes?
* Who can I talk to?

As well as dealing with their own emotions and concerns for the future, parents may also need to offer support and advice to other family members including children and grandparents.

With almost 24,000 youngsters born each year in the UK with hip dysplasia, nearly 1,000 with clubfoot / talipes and over 150 with a lower limb deficiency, STEPS gives essential support and information to individuals and families including:

* the only national telephone helpline (01925 750 271 weekdays),
* a family contacts register,
* a professionals database,
* free publications, booklets, DVDs and posters,
* a very active online forum via our website at www.steps-charity.org.uk
* We welcome emails to: info@steps-charity.org.uk

Our Vision is that anyone affected by hip dysplasia, clubfoot or other lower limb deficiency receives the best standard of information, treatment and support that they need.

For parents and family members: If you have questions, concerns or simply feel you would like someone to talk to - please do not hesitate to contact us - we will be happy to help. You can call our Helpline on 01925 750 271 (open weekdays) or email us at info@steps-charity.org.uk.
