Jake was diagnosed with an extremely form of cancer that currently has no cure. Only 1 in 5 million people are diagnosed with Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma which typically affects teenagers and young adults. Because it is so rare, the UK does not have a specialist. We are trying to raise money to get Jake to Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Centre in New York to meet with a Fibrolamellar Specialist and researchers. Hopefully Jake will be eligible for the clinical trials that are taking place but we won't know until Jake can meet with the with a Fibrolamellar Specialist and researchers. Please help us!

About Us

Jake was diagnosed in April 2014 with Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinoma. There is currently no cure. Jake wanted some good to come out of his situation and set up a facebook page to raise awareness of this particular type of cancer. We are fundraising to help get Jake to New York but to also set up a patient advocate and support group for future Fibrolamelllar sufferers and their families. Jake's illness is so rare that even the cancer nurse told us to google for information. We don't want anyone else to feel isolated or scared and are hoping to provide families with up to date information and support whilst going through this awful situation. We are in the process of raising enough money to be able to obtain our charity registration number. We need to raise £5000 in order to achieve this, but we are also hoping to raise approx. £20,000 for Jake's trip to New York which will cover flights, accommodation, consultation and test fees.
